Woodcut and Chine Collé – Beginners/Refreshers

Chine collé is a collage technique used by printmakers that allows you to add colour to your prints without making a separate block. Using a woodcut printing method with a combination of lightweight coloured papers it is possible to create colour fields within a print in such a way that the glued paper is seamlessly integrated with the inked image impression from the plate. You will be shown how to cut an image into the ply, print it and develop the print using different papers which are applied onto the image under the ink. This course is aimed at all levels of experience and participants are encouraged to bring sketch books, drawings and photographs for inspiration.
