Description

This weekend class will be a great introduction to etching. Etching is an intaglio method of printmaking where an acid resistant ground is applied to the surface of a plate which is then drawn into revealing the metal plate underneath. The plate is then submerged in acid which bites the open areas into the plate. These etched areas sit below the surface of the metal plate and hold the ink ready for printing using an etching press.

Working directly onto a steel plate you will develop images through various hand applied techniques, learn how to ink and print the plate using our Rochat printing press and finish the weekend with a small edition of prints.
