Festive Cyanotype Wreath Making WorkshopArray

Cyanotype or ‘blue print’ – is one of photography’s oldest printing methods.
One of the first people to put the cyanotype process to use was Anna Atkins (1799-1871), who in October 1843 became the first person to produce and photographically illustrate a botanical book using cyanotypes, or as they were known then ‘shadowgraphs’
On this alternative Festive Wreath making workshop you will work with fresh festive evergreen botanicals such as Holly, Mistletoe, spruce, fir alongside dried plants such as Honesty and eucalyptus from which we can create ‘negatives’
With this process we treat our printing paper with a photographic emulsion and use UV light to expose our images onto the paper itself before developing the beautiful deep blue prints.
When our botanical prints are complete we will each use simple origami folds to construct our own 16 pointed star Festive wreath.
