On this weekend class you will learn all the basics of creating your own original reduction linocut print.

Initially printing a single colour image, you will learn how to transfer your image onto traditional lino and experiment with an assortment of linocutting tools to create a variety of line and textured effects. Inking techniques will be demonstrated and you will learn how to register your printing block and paper. You will progress to designing and printing a two-colour reduction linocut. Reduction linocut is a relief process which involves cutting and printing successive layers of colour from the same block in order to build up an image. You will learn about using traditional oil-based inks and print on our Takach and Albion presses ending with a small edition of original prints.

This course is suitable for all levels of printing including complete beginners.
