Shedcase is a collaboration between Highland Print Studio and Men’s Shed, Beauly as part of Luminate’s Creative Ageing Festival. One of the founding members of Men’s Shed, Beauly is Jim Stewart, who was driven to set up the shed, following his participation on Highland Print Studio’s printmaking project for older men, Wise Guys. The aim of Wise Guys is to provide older men with a creative social experience where the men could meet weekly at the Studio and learn new printmaking skills.

First time artists, George, Alex and Bill, from the Men’s Shed worked with HPS Studio Manager, John McNaught, and now printmaking veteran, Jim Stewart, to create a limited edition hand-printed screenprint. The 5-colour print is an edition of 40 and is now on sale to raise funds for the Men’s Shed.

The Men’s Sheds movement started in Australia and is now taking off a storm across the UK. The movement came out of a desire to create a space that would have a positive impact on men’s health and wellbeing by providing the opportunity for men to social and perhaps work together on projects and activities.

Highland Print Studio would like to thank Luminate for supporting Shedcase.
